GENTLE MONSTER x Tilda Swinton Film Production
U LA LA served as lead production company for Gentle Monster’s landmark collaboration with Tilda Swinton — a cinematic short film titled The Endgame, directed by Erik Madigan Heck and shot on location in Paris, France.
Loosely inspired by Ingmar Bergman’s 1957 classic The Seventh Seal, the film features Swinton in a dual role — playing both a knight dressed in white and Death in a flowing crimson gown — engaged in a symbolic game of chess and a fencing duel. The project explored psychoanalytic themes including Jacques Lacan’s mirror stage, reflected in Swinton’s interaction with her own double. Art direction was led by Jerry Stafford, with cinematography by the acclaimed DP Yorick Le Saux.
As lead production company, U LA LA managed the full scope of production from pre-production through wrap — assembling the crew, coordinating locations across Paris, managing suppliers, and providing executive oversight throughout. The project required the precision and creative sensitivity demanded by a high-concept fashion film involving one of cinema’s most distinctive talents.
The campaign launched alongside a three-piece capsule eyewear collection co-designed by Swinton — the Newtonic, Trick of the Light, and Eye Eye frames — and was distributed globally across digital and editorial channels, receiving widespread coverage in international fashion press.
